Founded in the Spring of 2008, the Mock Trial Competition Team at Auburn University is a continually growing organization that attracts a diverse group of students seeking to gain firsthand courtroom experience. The team consists of enough members to fill two team rosters, which generally consist of twelve members per trial team. Auburn University's Department of Political Science and the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts sponsor the team, which travels across the Southeast and occasionally the nation to compete in mock trial tournaments under the American Mock Trial Association. As the team continues to grow, diversity among team members' college majors, races, and gender is rapidly increasing. Through participation in Auburn Mock Trial, team members improve their public speaking skills, advance their understanding of trial advocacy techniques, and polish their analytical skill sets.
